dca435757bf3 Replace <sys/mount.h> with <limits.h> The former is a portability hassle, but it turns out the only thing we need from it is PATH_MAX which we can get directly from limits.h. |

132d3f17556a The pagedaemon inspects the top-most sleeping pmemrange allocation for for size and constraint, and passes this information to the inactive scanner. The idea is that an extremely high-size and strict-constraint allocation that fails repeatedly would percolate to the top of the list. To ensure the scanner can inspect this allocation's constraint via the pointer, it gets locked. Then we release tons of memory from the buffer cache, and run the scanner to recover free memory. At the same time, other running operations free and allocate memory and wakeup all the sleeping pmemrange allocations, but no, not this one, because it is locked so that the pointer won't become invalid. When the scan is done, we may once again have meager memory resources because all the good stuff was allocated by asyncronous allocators, potentially creating substantial fragmentation not compatible with the constraint. Now, the sleeping request gets unlocked and woken to re-check it's requirements and guess what, the constraint fails it goes back to sleep, and we need to go around again... In practice this is a hard uvm deadlock. Instead, copy the constraint from the request, do not lock the allocation request and ignore the pointer. Instrumentation is showing this top-most request is ALWAYS satisfied during the bufbackoff() sequence, but we'll continue passing the constraint to the scanner as a last-ditch effort. ok claudio beck kettenis |

4ae131efb048 Use the correct start address for the initial immutable address range for a shared library. The code used the load offset of the shared library instead of the start address of the mapped memory. In most case that works because the first segment of a shared library typically starts at virtual address zero. But on sparc64 (and possibly other architectures that still use ld.bfd) libicudata.so from ports has a non-zero virtual address (possibly because it is a data-only library). So this fixes the bug reported by claudio@ |

HWRM commands are truncated to the maximum size supported by the firmware, which is the same as the request buffer size for all the hardware we currently support, but newer generations use longer commands. |

c539be2e36fc Due to the way the save area for the registers used for argument passing is set up in variadic functions with the "new" frame layout, make sure that variadic functions always setup a frame pointer, even if they qualify for omitting them (e.g. variadic leaf functions which do not call alloca or use exceptions), as their save area is relative to %r30. |

a25aeda82389 Fix a bug where formatting two compressed manual pages in row failed to decompress the second one. The problem was calling mparse*() functions in the wrong order mparse_open -> mparse_reset -> mparse_readfd instead of in the correct order mparse_reset -> mparse_open -> mparse_readfd: mparse_reset() clears the gzip flag, mparse_open() sets it if the new file is gzipped, and read_whole_file() called from mparse_readfd() enables decompression if the flag is set. To make the code easier to follow, call all of mparse_alloc(), mparse_reset(), and mparse_free() from main() rather than hiding mparse_reset() two levels down in the parse() subroutine. |

Previously these were restricted to "inet", which is a bit rich for a program which only needs to do this (very minor) operation and is specifically trying to avoid giving itself socket-creation abilities. This allows upcoming work in a sshd privsep process which uses other pledge options, it now will not require "inet". I cannot think of any way in which setting TOS creates a hazard. ok djm beck |

8693ef6a6ffe Instead of resetting p_cpticks in schedcpu() for all procs make p_cpticks a constantly increasing counter. schedcpu() then uses p_cpticks2 to store the last value. So the count of tick then becomes p_cpticks - p_cpticks2 and with both value are only updated by a single point. This makes the calculation of p_cpu fully MP safe. OK mpi@ |

6ef41150cbc6 Processing of .Os in groff-1.23 is so broken that not a single one of our regression tests escapes SKIP_GROFF - unbelievable. While at least parts of the .Dd and .Dt regressions could be patched back, that isn't possible for .Os (with reasonable effort). 278cc48cac9b Some of architectures do not us the stack protector (for example, retguard or hppa with reverse stack). So they do not call __stack_smash_handler(), and do not call sendsyslog(2). On those architectures, we can onditionally remove the syscall stub (which also removes it from the pinsyscalls table), and the stack protector handler. ok miod |

8046d3831223 When auto-fetching files: 1. Error out when a command line argument that is supposed to specify a URL does not contain a colon, rather than silently ignoring all subsequent arguments including the bad one and reporting spurious success. This can only happen for a bad argument following a valid URL argument. 2. The check whether the "host" part of a URL is empty was ineffective. Move it after cutting off the directory part to make it actually work, and let it print a meaningful error message. |

42337cd26dad Release `sb_mtx' mutex(9) while doing sleeping m_copym(..., M_WAIT) in soreceive() and somove(). It is possible in both places. We copy only `len' bytes from the single mbuf(9) pointed by `m'. The `len' is always less than m->m_len. The m->m_len could only grow while `sb_mtx' is unlocked, but concurrent thread will not override our chunk of m->m_data. There is no difference with the lockless uiomove(mtod(m)). |

4602d4e06be3 Turn failures to get/set EFI variables into warnings. This prevents the installer from warning the user that bootblocks haven't been installed properly and that the system won't boot. At this point the bootblocks have been installed and the system should boot even if EFI variables haven't been set except in some edge cases with firmwares that have a particularly poorly implemented EFI boot manager. |
