Also any priviledged static binary (which we ship, setuid or daemon) is not going to contain a pinsyscall or kbind slot in the loaded pinsyscalls table, so they cannot perform those. 2026/04/18 21:53 a6d33878ee16 The parking mutex uses data structures on the stack and expects CPUs to be able to modify that data for other CPUs. Unfortunately on some sparc64 systems (sun4u systems that don't use Fujitsu SPARC64 CPUs) use a trick where the interrupt stack is mapped using a fixed alias on each CPU. This means a CPU can only access its own interrupt stack. Fix this by using the "real" address of the interrupt stack. We still need the fixed alias though to find our own "struct cpu_info" on these systems. So on MULTIPROCESSOR kernel we need to use another locked TLB entry. .config 1a086e7c

2026/04/11 05:04 9bac450dd51b To support swapencrypt, the swapcluster code has a memory allocation codepath. Since this is runs inside the pagedaemon that is unworkable. We'd like to encrypt the pages inplace for IO, but there are architectures not ready for a high-mem page to be written to a dma-restricted device (work in progress). So for now we need to bounce through dma-reachable memory buffer. A previous attempt had 1 extra bounce buffer, but then slept on allocation inside the pagedaemon context which is also unworkable. This version contains 32 pre-allocated swapclusters (64K each), and through a counter signals to the pagedaemon when it should stop trying to create memory. 32 swap clusters is comfortably more than the minimum we expect the pagedaemon frantically generate. This crummy solution is good enough until we the dma reach problem is solved (soon) ok kettenis kirill (who looked into other solutions) beck .config 4b3d9a38

2026/01/28 23:42 132d3f17556a The pagedaemon inspects the top-most sleeping pmemrange allocation for for size and constraint, and passes this information to the inactive scanner. The idea is that an extremely high-size and strict-constraint allocation that fails repeatedly would percolate to the top of the list. To ensure the scanner can inspect this allocation's constraint via the pointer, it gets locked. Then we release tons of memory from the buffer cache, and run the scanner to recover free memory. At the same time, other running operations free and allocate memory and wakeup all the sleeping pmemrange allocations, but no, not this one, because it is locked so that the pointer won't become invalid. When the scan is done, we may once again have meager memory resources because all the good stuff was allocated by asyncronous allocators, potentially creating substantial fragmentation not compatible with the constraint. Now, the sleeping request gets unlocked and woken to re-check it's requirements and guess what, the constraint fails it goes back to sleep, and we need to go around again... In practice this is a hard uvm deadlock. Instead, copy the constraint from the request, do not lock the allocation request and ignore the pointer. Instrumentation is showing this top-most request is ALWAYS satisfied during the bufbackoff() sequence, but we'll continue passing the constraint to the scanner as a last-ditch effort. ok claudio beck kettenis .config b78a7341

2025/12/03 22:18 4ae131efb048 Use the correct start address for the initial immutable address range for a shared library. The code used the load offset of the shared library instead of the start address of the mapped memory. In most case that works because the first segment of a shared library typically starts at virtual address zero. But on sparc64 (and possibly other architectures that still use ld.bfd) libicudata.so from ports has a non-zero virtual address (possibly because it is a data-only library). So this fixes the bug reported by claudio@ .config cee4cb10

2025/09/25 04:20 a25aeda82389 Fix a bug where formatting two compressed manual pages in row failed to decompress the second one. The problem was calling mparse*() functions in the wrong order mparse_open -> mparse_reset -> mparse_readfd instead of in the correct order mparse_reset -> mparse_open -> mparse_readfd: mparse_reset() clears the gzip flag, mparse_open() sets it if the new file is gzipped, and read_whole_file() called from mparse_readfd() enables decompression if the flag is set. To make the code easier to follow, call all of mparse_alloc(), mparse_reset(), and mparse_free() from main() rather than hiding mparse_reset() two levels down in the parse() subroutine. .config 770ff59f

2025/03/03 20:24 4602d4e06be3 Turn failures to get/set EFI variables into warnings. This prevents the installer from warning the user that bootblocks haven't been installed properly and that the system won't boot. At this point the bootblocks have been installed and the system should boot even if EFI variables haven't been set except in some edge cases with firmwares that have a particularly poorly implemented EFI boot manager. .config c3901742
